It's quite common when leaving through Ben Gurion airport to be questioned, stripped and have arbitrary personal items sent on later as 'lost luggage'. It's also common that when the items finally arrive they no longer work. The longest of my 5 so-called 'security' checks was 4.5 hours - and they all magically end minutes before the flight leaves. Sure it's plain to see that they're playing mind-games. Recognise it, embrace it and come out the other side smiling. It helps to pass the time and before travelling and only annoys them more!
