I'm a regular reader oh Haaretz which I believe to be the best paper commenting the Middle East. I an neither Jewish nor Palestinian (although I am half Arab) I must admit I'm pretty sceptical concerning the Israili evacuation of Gaza... on the one hand I don't know weather it will really diminish Palestinian poverty, hatred, volience and terror, and on the other I don't really believe Israel is planning to truly evacuate, 100% of all occupied land and return behind the green line. Indeed, Gaza seems like an excuse to continue to occupy the rest. I truly hope things will get better between Israel and Palestine, and that Israel will continue to remain a safe haven for the Jews. I hope in the long run Jews will be able to return to Arab countries just as Arabs live among the Jews of Israel today. One last comment: whatever people may say, Israel is the only active democracy in the Middle East, where human rights may not always be respected in all cases but where it is at least an issue of national concern, which is more than we can say about their neighbours. Respect.
