Yossi Sarid speaks about Jews as "a people who pride themselves on their collective intelligence." From my experience, it is only inferior intellects who would make such a claim. Albert Einstein, who towers above most intellectuals, was more obsessed with what he didn't know about the universe, than by what he did know. Inferior intellectuals often need reinforcement of their superiority. And since they will never achieve 'superiority' on their own, it will have to be 'collective'.
