I realize in Europe it may be hard to comprehend how foreign policy can be based on anything other then toadying up to those with the most oil and economic clout. From a purely economic and strategic point of view it would make sense for the US to dump Israel in favor of the Arabs, but most Americans support Israel. It's not because of any love of Israel or a strong feeling (one way or the other) about the Jews). It's because of a profound distaste for the Arab world. You've convinced yourselfs they are poor helpless innocent victims in order to make you feel better about your realpolitik calculations. I don't think most Americans see it that way.
