Immense public health efforts around the world are expended on encouraging circumcision on health grounds and doctors debate the precise benefits, including most obviously the reduction in the spread of AIDS. Therefore it is absurd to describe these as not necessary medically even if the motives of the parents is religious. A doctor can make an argument for one in almost any situation. Of course, religious freedom should be given in any case (to Jews, and in Germany, especially), but the point here is irrelevant.
