Christchurch always has Israeli travelers going through it as it's the biggest base for South Island travel in NZ (the most scenic and visited of NZ destinations). There will be Israelis affected for sure as the CBD has all the accommodation and it's been emptied. There are no guests in the hotels as the whole CBD is empty apart from emergency workers. I dropped off my two Israeli friends who thankfully left for Australia just 2 days ago. There were 6 others from all over Israel in that hostel alone and while not totally destroyed, I have found it that it has been severely damaged. I hope they're all safe.
