if the people of israel allow the rabbis to rule, then the rabbis will rule. there were no rabbis in the tanach, but ever since 260 bce, the goals of the corrupted 'religious elite', so josephus tells us, began to dominate the ruling class, and they have done so ever since. why haven't the role models of the tanach been given a chance? there are hundreds of them. i prefer david hamelech, personally, but it doesn't matter who you choose because they all had the same belief, (ie those who were constructive). it is the people's choice.
