It always strikes me as odd when people call him a tin-horn dictator. Chavez was nearly overthrown in a US coup back in 2002. Not only did he not execute the people who attemped to overthrow him, but the same guy was permitted to run against him in the last election. If that were the U.S. or Israel where somebody tried to overthrow the government by military force, do you really think they'd be allowed to run in the next election? I don't know about you, but my guess is probably not. Now, I don't think it's a nice regime or a bed of roses, but let's not lose perspective, would you please?
