Israel cannot absorb the continents masses of unemployed. However, Israel does have strategic interests in seeing that deportation happens in a way that benefits Israel in the long run. When I was in South Sudan, I found the commanders of the SPLA very favorably disposed to Israel, which helped them militarily in the 1970's. The government of South Sudan may be locating its embassy in Jerusalem. Sudan was also a transit point for our people from Ethiopia. Having said that, the deportation should be carried out a way that eases their transition back to South Sudan by :training the deportees for success, rather than simply dumping them at the airport in Juba. South Sudan is rich in minerals, oil, and has some of the best farm land in the entire world. .They defend Israel in international forums--one of the few who do. Israel, I know that Israel can manage this with far better results than the way it is being carried out. Israel's new ambassador to South Sudan is extremely qualified, and would probably reflect these same sentiments. Further, IsraAid and others are already involved on the ground in South Sudan, helping to develop the relationship. The long and short of it: Build an ally, rather than alienate one. And, because of our people's history, act like we actually remember. Shabbat shalom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, February 16, 2016.

If Merkel also criticizes Israel, life is not a piece of cremeschnitte

The Israeli reaction to Der Spiegel's report on the German chancellor's frustration with Netanyahu was ridiculous, even Orwellian; as if Israelis were aliens who had just landed from another planet.

Boycott is the only way to stop the Israeli occupation

Aluf Benn's proposal for Israel's left to establish a base of domestic support for its positions is hopeless considering the brainwashing and increasing extremism of our society.
