I cannot explain why posting the idea that Saddam Hussein thought Iran would be a push-over in the early 1980s has been censored. Clearly the Iranian regime was in great trouble when Saddam attacked Iran. But iranians were tired with having foreign powers like the USA, Britain, and prospectively Iraq determining their future. No Iranian patriot, no matter HOW disappointed, discouraged, or disgusted with the Ayatollahs would fail to rally to their nation if attacked by Israel and/or the United States. Thus any attack upon Iran will bolster the regime and ensure that that regime will make maximum political and propaganda value from that attack. Any attack upon Iran will aid the current regime and result in a war which will backfire upon those who started it. I loath the ayatollahs and their brutal regime. Those who wish to attack Iran wish to strengthen the Ayatollahs and ensure their persistence.
