Mr. Carter looked for some indication that the Israeli government, during the time of his presidency, considered peace to be of greater value than land, he did not find it. President Obama does not, and evidently will, find any such indication from today's government words or actions. Greed, the total absence of the rules of cause and effect, and a perverted understanding of Jewish law and ethics are what constitute the guiding spirit of Israel's policy vis a-vis the Palestinians. Israel would be better served by the current American administration's teaching the Likud and its partners that 'real politic' is not Hollywood false front. Ignoring our gradual loss of credibility in the world at large is not a recipe for success.
