'Talks between Israel and the Palestinians hit a standstill last year after the PA pulled out of the negotiations in reaction to Israel's refusal to extend a moratorium on settlement activity.' Haaretz, you forgot to add that the moratorium was conceded in order to bring Abu Mazen to the negotiating table. He refused to come for the entire period the moratorium was in force and when it was obvious that there was no point in extending it further, he used that as the excuse for refusing to enter into negotiations. He did not 'pull out' since he rejected all offers to negotiate despite the moratorium.
