I'm sorry, Carol, but any country where religious leaders have the final say is not a democracy. It is a theocracy. No matter if we are talking about rabbis in Israel, imams in Saudi Arabia or ayatollah in Iran. All three are a theocracy. Israel masks its nature to a degree, but through incidents(IDF gender separation, Rabbis instructing Jews not to rent to non-Jews etc.) that originate from various rabbis we see that one religious community is lording over all those who don't see things in the same light. Ergo, Israel is a theocracy, not democracy.
