If Israel executed convicted murderers, there would not be a dilemma about releasing them. It's hypocritical to conduct targetted assasinations and refuse to have a legal death sentence for terrorist murderers. Generally, I'm against the death sentence for ordinary murders because there's the possibility of error and there's the possibility of the murderer changing his character while incarcerated. But when holding them encourages kidnapping and thus pressure to release them, this situation has to end.
