[1.] The current economy is based on an unsustainable occupation. As long as it continues, vast resources will be channelled to upholding it. When that occupation ends, either by israel's agreement or by force, israel's economy will have to find balance (without a crutch). [2.] The economy is based on a system of unequal civil rights, which turns one part of the population into human resource --- a mine of cheap uneducated and "untrained" labor. If this seems to work well for you, condensation of basic rights always ends in explosion. Also, as long as religion is not separate from the state, disproportionate power and funds will always be directed to a self-serving and by definition corrupt minority.
