The government kow-tows to the ultra-nationalists and religious extremists and it appears to be an unshakeable force whose end goal is to turn Israel into the new Iran. If the country ends up being impossible to live in except for those who embrace extremism, there will be a mass exodus. Then those who changed the nature of the country will be left to run its economy and service its military needs. That is why I asked if Israel can only be destroyed by an external enemy. Have I painted a doomsday scenario - maybe, maybe not.
