How does this work? First the reports claims that: All jobs in the army should be open to both sexes, as long as the candidate meets the relevant criteria, Then panel also recommended mandatory quotas for promoting women, with the goal of giving women a "significant presence". If everyone is equal, why should women be given preferential treatment? Perhaps this is all just a big foul up because the army is supposed to bend over backwards to accommodate the 3% of woman who want some kind of combat. Maybe Haaretz and everyone else screaming about this issue should review some of the medical documentation that seems to prove that intense combat training and deployment is having a significant negative effect on the female combatants.
