Ze'ev Schiff has vividly highlighted the plight of Sderot in the wake of the Kassam attacks, which exposes a deeper malaise. Israel has failed on every conceivable front: 1. technologically because it has not come up with any countermeasure for even crude projectiles; 2. militarily, because the Kassams continue to rain on Israel; 3. politically, because the government is weak, bickers, lacks enterprise, and is in tow to the West Bank settlers, whereas Hamas maintains the initiative; 4. on the PR front, because Israel's PR is totally outclassed by that of the Palestinians on the world stage. What a contrast to 1967!
