Strenger is correct. But he overlooks one point. Butler and Khalidi (Butler as a Jew who maintains that she is concerned with Jewish values, Khalidi as a Palestinian, for obvious reasons)are concerned above all with their own prestige. Butler certainly has made her anti Israel stance part of her public and intellectual profile.Both know quite well that the majority of Israeli academics are against the occupation, though that majority is part of a minority in Israel. Therefore at best they are preaching to the converted, and at worst penalizing those who should be their colleagues. Quite reprehensible, on both counts.
