The difference between Israel and the rest of the middle east is that Israel pretends to be a democracy then behaves more brutally than any of the other nations to prove it. The US pretends to be a democracy as well and have blown up 51 nations and changed the governments of another 21 since the second warld war. On a simple fact of international law it is illegal for Israel to keep any land stolen by war. That is a starting point and one of the reasons Hussein was forced out of Kuwait. Here in Australia we do thankfully have some journalists and authors who are not blinded by bigotry and a wrong headed notion of history as most are in the US. Tanya Reinhardt has just been in Australia giving a series of interviews and talks about the road map to nowhere and poses this question "how can Ariel Sharon with a mantra of perpetual war be deemed to be a man of peace by the US"? The US doesn't want to stop the conflict because Israel might recognise that arabs are just humans.
