But that is precisely the point. Israel has considered how to deal with Hamas. Israel played a significant role in getting Hamas elected and Israel is playing an even more important role in seeing that those percentage points of Palestinian support will tilt more in Hamas's favour. That's the reason for Israel's decision to refuse any compromise or prisoner exchange and continue its stranglehold over Gaza. My only disagreement with Rubinstein is that Israel could ever possible think of anything other than destroying Hamas. It is placing Hamas in a position where that will be easier for Israel. Or so, in their stupid arrogance, they think.
