Associates close to Netanyahu and Ya'alon called draft review of Operation Protective Edge 'an unserious report that reeks of politicking.'12:47 06.05.16 | 0 comments
Avineri correctly states " better not to waste words " about PM Netanyahu's U.N. speech because the words have not led to actions of sincerity. No tuchlus. It was a class delivery, as usual, but no substance to move forward. On the other hand, a short while ago, it was articulated from diplomatic sources (forget who?) that there's very little difference between the diplomatic positions of President Obama's stance on 1967 borders with exchanges, and PM Netanyahu's policy stance. So there are contradictions here and the only way to find the real essence of the game is to negotiate with whatever existing government represents the nation's electorate. Today, it's the Palestinian Authority,( members of the PLO) and Likud ( former ideological members of Herut, who challenged Ben Gurion, the founding Prime Minister of the State of Israel). Regarding PM Olmert and President Abbas, there was no resolution probably on Jerusalem or refugees and the Gaza War interrupted diplomacy in the subsequent months. The PA (Erekat) is documented as stating that only a few months were necessary to seal an agreement - now that's not sounding like the party in breach of diplomatic talks!
