The only reason the secular live in Israel is due to Zionism, being the idea of self determination of the Jewish nation in the land of Israel. Israel as it is the historic homeland of the Jewish people. Historic as it was our ancestors who chose to live in Israel because they and their fathers (the original 3) were promised Israel by God in the Torah. Torah saying that not only should the Jewish people live in Israel but should also keep the laws that God gave to said ancestors. Laws including not transgressing the Sabbath, included in which are a bunch of laws that it turns out would be transgressed by using a car. Such laws include the prohibiton of lighting fire (the engine has elements of that involved), 'final hammer blow' which would be transgressed in various circuitry, travelling a certain distance could easily be transgressed, combustion of fuel etc etc. So why not pay hommage?
