Its very sad an an old and well known newspaper like Maariv is going under and will cost so many jobs but the fact is Maariv is not making a profit for a number of reasons and the owners are not paying people because they want to report the news and give people jobs they want to make money and nothing more. There is the fact that alot of Maariv readers have now turned to things like the free newspaper Israel Hayom, there is the internet with many people choosing to use the internet or 24 hour television news rather than go out buy a printed newspaper. We can't go back in time and we have to move forward even if its not the ideal solution but we can't go back either. If Maariv, Haaretz or any other newspaper ends up closing down as a result of the changing world we just have to accept thats the way it is.
