In the best hypocritic traditions of the American government, they staged the Saddam hanging so that they could take credit if it was forthcoming or give blame to the Iraqis if there was an uproar. In the end, only a few cronies that benefitted from Saddams rule can shed a honest tear over his execution. He was a bad man and the "irregularities" which occurred at his hanging are a tempest in a teapot. He deserved worse. Having said that, Iran sends a big bouquet of roses to Bush for doing for them when they could not do for themselves in these past decades. America has changed Iraq from a potential problem into a huge existential problem with the potential to get worse. Before Bush leaves office, he may change the face and the dynamics of the middle east for many years to come, and that change is not good for the west. Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, are all more likely to be more dangerous to American and Israeli interests then they were when Bush assumed office.
