First, let's dispense with the idea that the Bush Administration uses logic in its decision making process for it never has and never will. It does run on an extremely high octane blend of ideology and loyalty. Secondly, the Bush Administration is giving the Saudi Royal Family the arms deal to prop them up against the Wahhabists in Saudi Arabia. The Wahhabists want the infidels out of Saudi Arabia while the Saudi Royal Family needs the United States there to protect it from both the Shi'ites and the Wahhabists. The Saudi Royal Family has more or less been loyal to the Bush Administration and its cronies in the oil business, so they will make an arms deal under the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" illogic. No logic to it...only loyalty to another rich family.
