The controversy at the heart of today's struggle is not the game of politics. It will not be won by political parties, elected leaders, governments, or bureaucracies. Governments now face a people who do not care to be recognized as an organization. They do not want to assert themselves politically. Instead, they demand only that the political entities give up their struggles with each other and guarantee freedom, justice, and dignity for all people under their jurisdictions. And so return to what Burston envisages.
