There is a tremendous built-in bias in favor of Islamic countries. There are many of them with great wealth. There is only one Israel. Thus, in government service you're much better off in terms of promotion ,if you are seen as pro-Islamic rather than as pro-Israel. Further, when you retire many more jobs with status and high pay are with firms doing business with the Arabs. Also, much lobbying occurs when former coworkers (now in well-off positions with oil, defense and other industries )come to visit you and display their enhanced lifestyle. It is very tempting to join the crowd and live the good life. It should be no surprise, why the intellectual elite drink at the fountain of Arab and Arab oriented businesses for grants and for lucrative positions as researchers, consultants, and high-level executives.
