    The Church persecuted people but it NEVER crucified (as you stated) anyone! Secondly, you are completely in the dark when it comes to western history if you can't see the pivatol role that the Church played in creating 'western civilization' without the Church we would not of heard of Plato, Aristotle, Michaelangelo, Donatelo, etc...without the Church, we would not have the modern system of education, remember it was only and only the church that fed and helped the poor throughout Europe (NO ONE ELSE) it provided free education to million, sure it went through a bad period, but so have the jews, read your torah, there are a host of mass exterminations executed and documented by the jews themselves! (i.e. philistines, canninites, etc) .... in addition, part of the reason that there have been so many killings in the name of god is because of the adoption of the Jewish way of looking at god, which is pretty primitive and binary view of the world (good vs evil, my god is better)...
