Under the British Mandate system, the Palestine pound, which oddly enough was also the currency of Transjordan, was issued by a board subservient to the British Colonial Office, at a value equivalent to the British Pound Sterling. The Palestine stamps were also issued by the British Post service. The flag of Palestine was the Union Jack, and the the Palestine passport that residents carried was a British passport.
