Almost every country, Britain and the United States included, has a group of people who are bigoted against those who are different from themselves. After the 9/11 attacks, there were reports from various parts of the country that members of various ethnic groups living in the US had been assaulted because some people thought that they were of the same background as the hijackers - even though it was clearly ridiculous. The fact remains, however, that the US is, on the whole, very hospitable to foreign visitors, as well as immigrants. I believe the same may be said of Britain. I have known several people who were admitted to Britain as children and as refugees immediately before the outbreak of WWII. That is not the hallmark of a racist country.
