This is a brilliant analysis of strategy. However, it is premised on a factor which, though very true, is left unsaid by Mr Benn (and perhaps not by accident): that the Israeli government's options and moves are based on its refusal to negotiate with the Palestinians. If the Israeli government wanted to negotiate, no problem would exist with Obama. (And negotiations, needless to say, include J'salem and cannot be, as Bibi spins it, without preconditions)
