Good point, Arnold. Of course, he could throw stones at that armoured jeep all day to no effect. Indeed, the soldier inside could've just shut the hatch and been perfectly secure. But he chose to shoot the guy, the 20th? 21st? to be killed this way. I'm sure Mr Tamimi was aware of all this but he fought anyway. Which either makes him a complete fool, as you say, or a brave man killed defending what he believed in and was prepared to take a stand for.
