Writing as a left of centre orthodox Jew living in the diasora, I feel this is a brave article and Avraham Burg has drawn the dividing lines correctly. Religious zionism used to value democracy (e.g. teshuvot of Chief Rabbi Herzog) - nowadays it disdains it because it doesn't always get the answer it wants "Real rabbi" should read some of the actual sources and the responsa of especially (but not exclusively) religious zionist rabbis who compare Palestinians to the seven Canaanite nations or Amalek For those who argue that our extremists are really nicer than their extremists - if they can stand back from an ethnocentric bias as Avaraham Burg has done then perhaps they will realise just how silly this is It is a great shame that this sort of debate generates so much heat and light. And I wonder why it is ok for someone to post a message which simply says "death to the leftists" in Ivrit? Burg;s honesty deserves a serious and respectful response from those who disagree
