    o.k. let's get real. i'm a shabbas goy from California who is a moderate dem., not a republican. and i can tell you from the example of California that Mr. Burston is exactly right. California used to be a center-right state, the adopted home of Ronald Reagan and the birthplace of the modern conservative movement. because of extremism, California is now not just Democratic, but Liberal, strictly due to the backlash against Republican politics. from my perspective (as a pro-Israel, pro-peace person) Israeli politics is much like trying to put humpty-dumpty back together again. the realities you face you know better than anyone, but the level of Denial of the reality of demographics is unreal. the wall makes you *think* you can put off the Palestinians...but in a few decades you will have created your own ghetto. unless you strike a deal now and get the demographic question off the table.
