    Once in government and disarmed as a private militia, if Hamas refuses to negotiate in full faith with Israel, then Israel has the right to take any action it deems necessary for its long term safety. Generally speaking, diplomacy is always the preferred option, as long as it is not diplomacy in the Chamberlain mode. Nevertheless, the opposite side must understand, and it must be made clear to them, that with elections come heavy responsibilities. They must also understand that any Israeli government must also focus on the security issues of its own people.
