South Africa was part of the commonwealth since 1961. The Apartheid government was voted in in 1948. I know well the histories of the leaders of the Apardheid movement - all members of the Dutch Reformed Church (Dutch Kirk anyone???). However, I was not talking politics - I was talking colonialism and social behaviour. As in all colonies the English regarded the Blacks as there for their convenience, to serve them. They had just as much part in the development of the Apartheid system as the Afrikaners.
