It is the prerogative of the State to accept these refugees, but it is the duty of the State to arrange suitable accommodation in appropriate areas, not to just leave them to sort themselves out. They will only fall prey to unscrupulous elements. Where do rabbis come into this equation? As community leaders in a religious community, in a city that was founded decades before the State as a religious enclave, it their job is to preserve the integrity of their community. It is not their job, or of any other private citizen, to offer these illegals alternative accommodation. That is the duty of the State.
