Bill, it's got nothing to do with you being in the US and me being in Israel. You're just as entitled to your view as anyone else. My point was simply to raise another possible explanation for Hamas' election victory, other than the one that says the Palestinian population voted for Hamas because it wants war. My understanding is that much of Hamas' election campaign strategy was based on promises to avoid the corruption and mismanagement of Fatah and thus, improve the economic conditions of the Palestinians. Some people probably voted for Hamas for this reason and others because the group stands for the destruction of Israel. Very hard to know precisely. The point is that things are very rarely as simple and straightforward as you presented them.
