Talking with Hamas is a policy question, not an ideological one, especially with the IRA , ANC and Kenya examples in mind. In REALITY, however, one has to pick the best approach. At the present time, Hamas is NOT interested in talking with Israel, so this option is out. Moreover, there may be a better approach tp peace. As long as Abbas and Hamas are divided, let Israel reach a peace agreement with Abbas also covering Gaza, with this part going into effect when Gaza comes under PLO control. After the peace agreement is ratified in referenda in Israel and West Bankers, Israel can move into Gaza, or let Arab countries do it, kick Hamas out, then bring Abbas in to uproot Hamas. He will do a good job, as good as Egypt does in suppressing the Islamic Brotherhood.
