In Israel, military service is compulsory. It's not like the US where military recruiters try to entice/mislead young people into serving. In Israel it's not a case of "stubborn nationalism," it's a national necessity. No compulsory military service, no strong army and no Israel. By the way, Michael Moore does criticize our country's policies but NOT our country's very existence. There is a difference between criticizing the Iraq war, Pres. Bush or our gun laws, and saying "Israel or Uganda...there's no difference." In case you don't know, the Europeans in the 19th century, in complete ignorance of Jewish history, suggested Uganda as the site for a Jewish homeland.
