It was with good reason that the Sages sought to down play Messianic nationalism in their day. They warned about trying to force the hand of G-d or trying to "read his mind" and seeing signs of this and that in every event. They did so because they saw the results of the 1st and 2nd rebellions against Rome which were heavily predicated upon the those ideas.Personally I think organised religion is a product of man, and liable to the same mistakes that people make in everything else they do. I think your tactics about confronting them on their belief system is great, but they will not give a coherent answer as the beauty of fundamentalism is never having to be accurate or responsible for ones self, ideas and declarations it is all part of the big mystery, which becomes more true and relevant the more mysterious it gets, you see how deep they are? WOW! Regards to as usual Ben Gurion. I enjoy your posts alot!
