1 i did not say that ben-eliezer founded birzeit.i said that he spoke of israel having opened the institutions and he was helpful in later years.as were others i named who came after him. 2 again jordan did nothing for twenty years.no palestinian would have dared ask jordan to open universities.they did ask israel and israel facilitated the opening. 3 jordan was forced to pay simply because it did not want to lose influence with what it then thought was its territory.their paying has nothing to do with anything.the universities were opened under israel's watch. 4 why should israel initiate educational institutions? simply because it was the correct thing to do.why is that difficult to understand?. 5 you keep mentioning jordan which as i have already stated did not even open elementary schools in the west bank.israel rectified that situation. 6 finally you require direct evidence that israel was the facilitator in this regard? how about the fact that israel was in charge of the west bank.the opening of the first university took place under israeli watch.it did not happen under the twenty long years the jordanians were the power in the west bank. in all this the character and views of moshe dayan were of primary importance.
