    • I oppose Juge and Avi's opinion for a two reasons
    • 15.11.10 | 22:25 (IST)

Avi suggests that after 20 years or so, the fecund, religious Jews of the State of Palestine will elect Jewish MP's and will be a general pain to the State of Palestine and will therefore become bargaining chip to swap territory and populations to avoid civil wars in both states. My objections are #1- since the Palestinian Arabs aren't likely to have regular, free and fair elections in a modern democracy, it's an irrational belief to think that Jewish citizens of Palestine would ever have elected MP's. #2- Avi's logic presupposes that Palestinians in the future Palestine and Israel would prefer a negotiated settlement to civil war. They've spent the last 60+ years prolonging the war, why would they stop in the near future? In fact, destabilization is exactly what groups like Hamas and Hebz are already trying to do.
