I do not have to agree with all of Beck's opinions or theories to recognize his true, sincere, and selfless support and even love of Israel. He respects our history and understands better than most radically left leaning jewish leaders from j Street the miracle that is Israel. We share the same awe for the redemptive moment of the creation of democratic forms by the US founding fathers and share the belief that that is the only legitimate form of governance, with all its messiness and imperfections. He understands more than Joffe that the vile and virulent Jew hatred from the 40's has just morphed into the modern version of Islamo-fascism mixed with radical leftist socialism to form the single biggest threat to the Jewish people's survival, not Evangelical Christians in the USA. With all due respect to Joffe and his uber liberal constituency, beck has proven more reliable in his support for Israel than many of the reform Rabbis ordained by Joffe. And by the way one can still disagree with beck and believe it is in Israel's best interest to disengage from large parts of our historical homeland in Judea and Samaria yet express gratitude for his freindship. I for one welcome him and his followers, family and friends with open arms to Israel. may they be fruitful and multiply

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
