Winter 1973……I can vividly recall while sitting on the bumpy and jolting banana wagon the breathtaking sights of the flocks of starlings flying out from Wadi El-Hama in the soft light of the Jordan Valley winter morning. During the late afternoon “tea time” sessions out on the lawns in our volunteer quarters area we watched their choreography again as they returned to sleep at their favorite spots in the groves of what is now the asphalt parking lot at Hamat Gader…. Those were the days … and nights, too!
