I suppose that Haaretz can be forgiven for its insular article on the greatness of Barney Frank. But even Israelis should understand that his greatness doesn't particularly stem from the fact that he is Jewish. He is best known and admired in the US because he was the first "out" representative to Congress in the US and has fought tirelessly and effectively for gay rights and acceptance of the gay/lesbian community. He has represented the state of Massachusetts for thirty two years as a proud, committed gay man and has enjoyed the support of his constituents of all shapes, sizes, and orientations.
