Barak is well respected in the Arab world. He is also an "accomplished" ex-general and also seemingly well respected in Israel by his political supporters and opponents alike. What he now needs to do is to be able to put the peace process back on the agenda. In 1999 Barak and Arafat had a golden opportunity and they both blew it. Result? More radicalism and more power for Hamas (and the recent developments in Gaza speak louder than words). The peace process has to be "re-railed". I hope Mr. Barak learnt from previous mistakes and finds a way to create the right opprotunity for peace. Shalom and Salam is what we need. Let us prosper together. Let us guide the world by example. Moslems, Christians, and Jews have lived in peace for centuries in the Middle East and there is no reason why they can't do it again.
