I tend to agree with Eyal #58. Barak was a disaster for both Israel and the Palestinians. He offered Arafat nothing at Camp David (NOT 97 percent, as many people still falsely believe), and afterwards claimed that there was no "partner for peace". We see the results today. Most Israelis don't believe that there is any chance for peace with the palestinians or the arab states, because 'we offered them everything and they still chose violence', as the saying goes. (just to state what should be obvious: this picture is wrong. the palestinians DO want peace, but they have never got a decent offer). This feeling of fear is some of the reason why Israelis nowadays tend to choose racist, militaristic leaders - and why people in this talkback believe that Gideon Levy is a 'traitor'. This belief in 'not having anybody to talk to' is disastrous, both for the Israel and Palestinians. And to a large degree it's Barak's fault. I put my bet on Ayalon.
