People with militant tendancies will tend to be militant in the society they develop in. So a fanatic right wing Israeli settler would probably have been a suicide bomber if born a Gazan, while the Jihadist would probably have been an equally fanatic right wing Jew, praising Baruch Goldstein and Kahane. Meanwhile this who seek peace and reconciliation would do so whatever they come from. Of course, local factors and history change perspectives. Most moderate Israelis and moderate Palestinians (and other Arabs) may not want to be close friends (not yet anyway) but neither to they want to be bitter enemies. What Israel and her enemies both lack are leaders of the calibre of Ghandi and Mandela and the wisdom of their people to elect them or empower them if they ever had such politicians.
